I am Kwing Herrero, an average, funny guy and a certified Batang 90’s based in Bacoor, Cavite. I am an IT professional specializing in website creation, an entrepreneur, and a family man. Initially, I used this website as his training ground for polishing my skills, eventually turning it into an online resource for gamers.

I realized that as adults, we have less time to do what we love due to careers, businesses, growing families, and other obligations, including playing video games. I created this “online tambayan,” where gamers can learn, enjoy, and collaborate.

That was January 2022. Bidyo Geyms was born…

I also realized that video gaming is a vast subject. There are so many articles and topics to cover, I decided to write on them one step at a time.

I am writing solo right now, but soon, when the website gets bigger, I might consider adding more editors and writers so Bidyo Geyms can provide more value to gamers.

How Did My Gaming Journey Begin?

Early Childhood Days:

I started playing video games in elementary school (that was the 1990s). I remember my mom hiding the adapters and controllers of our Family Computer and Super Nintendo consoles because she couldn’t stop us. I recall Super Mario 3 and Donkey Kong – oh, those were the days! As kids, we didn’t have sufficient allowance to buy video game cartridges, so we relied on getting high grades and hoping our parents would reward us with one! I also remember having a Gameboy back in the day. Our handheld gadget ran on AA batteries, and man, we could only play for 10 minutes before it was already low on battery! We did all sorts of crazy stuff to charge the battery! 😅

What Games Do I Love to Play?

I love playing games with a mix of deep stories and great gameplay, such as Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid, the Final Fantasy series, Uncharted, God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, etc. I also enjoy playing JRPG titles like Dragon Quest XI, Tales of Arise, and other great titles!

What about Backlogs? Do You Have Any?

You bet! Back in 2011, I dedicated myself entirely to building my online business. I was grinding and grinding, neglecting one of my passions – gaming. At the time, I believed I was wasting my time on unproductive activities. Unfortunately, this resulted in me missing out on a whole generation of games, particularly the PS3 and PS4 titles. It wasn’t until November 2018 that I finally got my hands on a PS4 Pro. Since then, I’ve been catching up by buying second-hand PS3 games from the Facebook marketplace.

I don’t regret it because I learned and gained a lot of experience, which I still apply today. I realized that all work, constant grind, without sufficient rest and recovery leads to burnout, ultimately resulting in reduced productivity. I also discovered that by playing in moderation and taking a few hours to relax, I become more productive. So, finding the balance between leisure and progressing towards goals is the key.

Today I own the following consoles:

  • PS2
  • 2 PS3 (1 piano black and a slim version)
  • 2 Nintendo DS and DS3
  • PSP
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Nintendo Labo
  • 2 Nintendo Switch (Lite and V2)
  • PS5

I sold my PS4 Pro because my wife told me that it was redundant because the PS5 is backward compatible with PS4 games and provides better performance and graphics. However, I will buy another one for the collection’s sake, hehe!

Platinum Trophy Hunter?

Nah! I don’t have the luxury of time to go for platinum. I’ve only achieved platinum on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and God of War 3: Remastered. I was about to pursue a platinum trophy for Demon’s Souls; however, there’s a trophy that requires an online subscription, which is a turn-off.

Btw, kudos to gamers who scour and explore everything until they reach platinum! You’re awesome! 👍🏆

Ama GitGud Gamer!

Aside from games with great storylines, I also fell in love with the difficult and punishing games that FromSoftware offers. I finished and earned a platinum trophy for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I also completed Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Demon’s Souls on PS5. After finishing my current game, I plan to delve deep into Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and Elden Ring.
